Black Button Distilling is a New York State licensed Farm Distillery located in Rochester, NY. We use 90% New York State all-natural ingredients to make our famous small batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Citrus Forward Gin, and Bespoke Bourbon Cream. Recognized 2 years in a row on the Inc. 5000 list and one of the top 5 craft distilleries in the USA according to USA Today’s 10Best Readers' Choice poll. Black Button’s Distillery, Cocktail Bar and Bottle Shop is located near Rochester’s historic Public Market; and has a Cocktail Bar and Bottle Shop in Downtown Buffalo near the Ballpark.

Position Summary

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for the Black Button brand and how it extends to both consumers and trade across all divisions of the company. Overall duties will revolve around marketing program development and execution, business analysis and project management. The Marketing Director will have to effectively represent the brand to the public and will have five to seven direct reports. The Black Button Brand is in a high growth mode quickly expanding from 1 state to 7 states of distribution. There is significant growth potential in this position and with this team but the correct candidate will be ready for the challenges associated with such growth.

Responsibilities

· Develop and implement the annual brand strategy and marketing plan to create consumer demand and drive traffic to Tasting Rooms.

· Oversee Tasting Rooms/ Experience Centers to drive trial, sell bottles and create brand loyalists while ensuring profitability.

· Create meaningful and relevant brand marketing communications that grow the brand franchise.

· Leverage consumer insights, proprietary research and data to determine the optimal allocation of marketing resources across various media outlets and channels.

· Develop and sustain strong and productive working relationships with external partners for creative brand development, advertising and trade promotions.

· Ensure marketing campaigns generate effective demand for consumers, internal Field Sales, and vital external customers (e.g. Distributors and Retailers).

· Ensure the national brand strategy is consistent and relevant in regional / local markets.

· Lead cross-functional teams to ensure all aspects of packaging, pricing, placement and promotion are aligned with the brand strategy.

· Collaborate with Field Sales and Marketing to ensure the brand is consistently and effectively positioned across all channels and touch-points.

· Manage and oversee brand activities including marketing campaign plans, advertising production, sales team support, and vendor correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.

· 9+ years of progressive marketing experience in a CPG/FMCG industry; strong knowledge of beer or spirits category preferred; solid understanding of the three-tier distribution system

· Proven desire and ability to think strategically and creatively, coupled with financial acumen and strong analytical / problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication skills; articulate, strong public speaking and writing skills, effective interpersonal skills.

· Strong team player and collaborator with all internal / external stakeholders.

· Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and strong project management skills.

· Proficient Mac/PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), syndicated database experience (IRI or Nielsen), custom database experience.

Preferred Qualifications

· Successful candidate will be a very motivated self-starter and be able to work without daily guidance.

· Strong understanding of workflow management and optimizing resources in lean startup.

· Significant experience developing a positioning strategy, marketing platform and producing creative executions for a prominent brand. Retail experience a plus.

· Senior leadership experience in a Marketing function within a beverage alcohol industry.

· Managed a large marketing budget and worked with budgets, forecasts, and P&L statements.

· Strong track record of developing effective traditional / digital marketing campaigns.

· Extensive experience collaborating with external partners (e.g. advertising, design, digital, promotions agencies).

· Experience mining consumer demo / psychographic insights for a prominent consumer brand to inform marketing strategy and investment.

· Proven track record in building and leading a strong team.

· Experience with planning, development and commercialization of new products and line extensions.

· Experience optimally positioning a brand across multiple channels.

· Leveraged insights from quantitative ROI analyses and/or Marketing Mix Models to determine investment allocation / optimizations.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000.00 to $95,000.00 /year
