AI & PR: Future Proofing Your Career

Anthony D’Angelo, APR, Fellow PRSA, chair of the public relations department at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, joined us on January 14 for a virtual presentation and Q&A about how AI is impacting our industry.

He demonstrated how AI has posed new ethical concerns in trustworthiness and transparency, how the PR industry is adopting the technology to accelerate past rote tasks onto more strategic thinking, and shared tips for different platforms and uses.

PRSA Rochester Holiday Party

The chapter celebrated each other and a year of great work at Flight Wine Bar in early December. We even got our 2025 chapter president, Wendy Boyce, and seven past presidents together for a photo.

PRSA Members in the News

Our chapter’s Kevin P. Kane, MS, APR, Fellow PRSA, recently wrote an article for the national PRSA site about the amount of experience needed to be successful in applying for the APR credential: https://www.prsa.org/professional-development/accreditation-in-public-relations-(apr)/is--five-years-minimum-public-relations-experience--an-apr-requirement

What can PR leaders learn from a tour that became a global cultural moment? In a new LinkedIn Article, Iva Petrosino, APR, explores the leadership choices behind Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and Disney+ docuseries The End of an Era — and why those choices matter for communicators. Using five lessons drawn from the docuseries, Petrosino connects Swift’s approach to people, brand experience and storytelling to the day-to-day realities PR pros face: leading teams through high-stakes work, delivering consistency across channels and building relationships that last beyond a single campaign. From recognition that reinforces culture to ethics that protect reputation, the article offers takeaways communicators can apply in any industry — even if you never scored tour tickets.
