Northeast District Conference

Event Recap: PRSA Rochester Chapter hosts the 2023 Northeast District Conference

On Friday, November 3, 2023, the PRSA Rochester Chapter hosted the Public Relations Society of America’s Northeast District Conference (PRxNE) at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York. Nearly 200 communications professionals and guests from near and far attended the sold out conference, which focused on strategies and tactics to help the public relations practitioner of today leverage their purpose to become the practitioner of the future. It was energizing to see so many comms pros come together to network and enhance their craft.

Attendees enjoyed a morning keynote address from crisis communications expert and social media influencer Molly McPherson followed by a robust slate of 18 engaging breakout sessions on AI, media relations, crisis communications, DEI in communications and more, including an afternoon keynote address from 2023 PRSA National Chair Michelle Egan.

Special thanks and appreciation to the PRxNE 2023 sponsors who made the conference possible and to the dedicated team of volunteers whose support made the event a great success. Check out pictures from the day in the gallery below (Photo Credit: Mikaela Engstrom Photography).

About the PRSA Northeast District

PRSA chapters throughout the US are grouped into districts. The Rochester chapter along with seven other chapters—WNY/Niagara, Finger Lakes, Central NY, Albany/Capital Region, Boston, Yankee (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine), and Southeast New England—make up the Northeast district representing about 1,000 members.

A district board made up of chapter presidents, presidents elect and assembly delegates from each of the eight chapters meet each month. The district’s mission is to support the advancement of a diverse regional community of public relations and communications professionals by providing equitable access to PRSA networking and educational initiatives that underscore best practices.

A district professional development and networking conference is held each year. The chapters rotate hosting the conference.

The Northeast district offers volunteer opportunities for members looking to become involved at the district level particularly for the annual conference. Please contact the Rochester chapter assembly delegate or president if you’re interested.
