We are pleased to announce that Jamie Frumusa, APR, and Account Supervisor, Tipping Point Communications, recently achieved the prestigious Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), the gold standard in public relations and a way to recognize practitioners who have mastered the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to develop and deliver strategic communications. Please join the PRSA Rochester Board in congratulating Jamie in this important next step of her career.

Says Jamie, “Working to earn my APR over the past year was such a significant experience for me personally and professionally. Through my studies I began to recognize how often meaningful processes like research and ethics get overlooked in our profession. I found that sometimes we get so caught up in delivering results that we actually miss out on the real heart of the work. The journey to accreditation taught me to slow down and truly appreciate the process. I now see public relations in a whole new light which has helped me become a better practitioner.”

Jamie leads strategic planning for a wide range of clients at Tipping Point Communications, since joining in 2011. Frumusa supervises client program initiatives and develops comprehensive communications plans that raise awareness, achieve influence and help make a lasting impact. Since 2011, Jamie has been an active PRSA member, where she has served on several committees and volunteers as a PRism judge. She also volunteers for the Ad Council of Rochester and Flower City Habitat for Humanity. Jamie currently resides in downtown Rochester, N.Y., but will be relocating to Buffalo, N.Y. in 2016 to head up Tipping Point’s new office at the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

According to PRSA National, accredited PRSA members demonstrate “commitment to the communications profession, to their clients, to their company or organization, and to themselves.” APRs are required to commit to learning through continuing education, serving as volunteers or through other professional development initiatives. This is typically an individual achievement, open to seasoned working professionals, with a recommended five years or more public relations experience.

Over the past year, several local Rochester candidates-in-progress have started pursuing this endeavor, through the mentorship of several accredited chapter members.
