Annual Business Meeting Recap
On Wednesday, November 8, members of PRSA Rochester gathered at City Grill in Rochester for the chapter’s annual business meeting. The business meeting is an annual occasion that brings members together with the organization’s board of directors to review the chapter’s activities and programs from the previous year, along with an update on the chapter’s financials, membership initiatives and more. Of note, the membership committee led by Chair Ellen Rosen unveiled several new intiatives for building the chapter’s membership in 2017 and beyond. There will continue to be a strong focus on growing and adding new members to PRSA Rochester over the following year.
This year we had the special privilege of being joined by PRSA National Board of Directors Chair Jane Dvorak, president, JKD & Company, Inc. Jane traveled to Rochester from the Denver area to present at the Rochester chapter’s business meeting.
During her presentation to members, Jane reviewed some of PRSA’s biggest achievements in 2017, from a national perspective. Chief among those updates included an all-new PRSA website, new member-to-member forums and message boards, work to expand diversity within the organization and throughout the industry, professional development opportunities and more. Jane also discussed what went into her decision to issue a statement on behalf of PRSA reaffirming the organization and the industry’s commitment to ethics, transparency and professional values.
Following her appearance at the business meeting, Jane traveled to St. John Fisher College to meet with PR students from area colleges.
Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the 2017 PRSA Rochester Business Meeting. We look forward to celebrating the end of another successful year for our chapter at our holiday mixer on Wednesday evening at Nox.
