2018 Call for Volunteers

Interested in getting involved with PRSA Rochester? Our diversity and inclusion committee, PRism Awards committee, programming committee, young professionals committee, membership committee, and communications committee are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of initiatives. If you’re interested in joining a committee, please reach out to the chairperson noted. 

Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Co-chairs Nadine General ( and Melissa Greco Lopes (
The D&I committee is looking for new members interested in championing issues of diversity and inclusion within the public relations profession and in our chapter. In 2018, the committee hopes to launch new activities and initiatives related to D&I, as well as continue hosting PRSA Rochester’s annual PR Apprentice program.
Commitment: The committee meets for an hour once per month, with small tasks to complete in between each meeting.

PRism Awards Committee

Is event planning your thing? The PRism Awards Committee is looking for all type of volunteers-- from planning and coordinating to day-of set up-- we welcome your help.
Commitment: Put in as much or as little time as you can.

Programming Committee
Co-chairs Joy Auch ( and Michelle Kraft (
The programming committee is looking for PR pros who love planning events, connecting with others and developing strong educational programming. Our programs focus on networking and furthering local PR professionals' understanding of industry trends, while providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed at their jobs.
Commitment: Attend monthly, 1-hour meetings. Additional personal time will also be spent helping with logistics for upcoming events.

Young Professionals Committee
Chair Rachel Laber Pulvino (
The young professionals committee is looking for young pros who would like to get more involved with PRSA, and who are looking to both connect with their fellow young pros and current PR students in area colleges. The committee will be working on a few events this year as well.
Commitment: The committee meets once a month for an hour.

Membership Committee
Chair Ellen Rosen (
The membership committee welcomes new members to help with its various initiatives, including identifying potential new members and working to retain existing members through its new Buddy Program. Members are needed to serve on the Buddy Program, as greeters/welcome committee at programs and general outreach, in addition to specific projects such the current membership campaign.
Commitment: Committee meets once a month for an hour, with members working on specific assignments in between meetings. Time commitment is flexible.

Communications Committee
Chair Kayla Duffney (
The communications committee is looking for PR pros who are interested in helping with the chapter’s social efforts on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, as well as writing short form content for our bimonthly newsletter.
Commitment: A few hours per month.
